The Shangrila Resort, which is situated on the eastern shore of Upper Kachura Lake and is recognized for its beautiful landscaping and picturesque views of the neighboring mountains, is among the top sights to see and things to do in Skardu. The old Kharpocho Fort which was built in the sixteenth century and provides panoramic views of the Skardu valley is another appreciated destination. Trekking, mountain climbing, and seeing local glaciers like the Baltoro and Biafo Glaciers are some of the other well-liked activities in Skardu. Visitors can also purchase gifts, handmade items, and local foods from bazaars or markets. The summer months of May through September are the best time for travel to Skardu. It's easier to enjoy the amazing scenery because of the fantastic weather, clearer skies, and better visibility. However, the weather can be erratic. Therefore, it is wise to carefully review the weather prediction before making travel arrangements. Being that there are no direct flights from important Pakistani cities getting to Skardu can be a little difficult. Visitors often take a domestic flight to the adjacent airport in Gilgit and then take a car trip to Skardu from there which takes around 24 hours.
